Seen in this light, the Epson V850 is a real bargain. The Agfa scanner mentioned above could only scan one image at a time, was extremely cumbersome and slow and cost over 10,000. It's amazing what you can get for the money. Scanning each image individually to perfection is, in my view, mostly a waste of time, because in reality most images are hardly ever looked at closely. Super! I save the slides as TIFF so that they can be edited later if necessary.

The Epson software recognises the individual slides and saves them as individual files after the scan. The two slide holders for 12 slides each make the work much easier. This works wonderfully and almost automatically with Epson 2.

For the Pro version you have to pay almost 70 francs more. In addition, an old version is delivered, although the scanner is new. It is certainly good for pros, that is out of the question, but for me it is too much effort for little more quality. However, I couldn't and still can't do much with the Silverfast software.

Perfect device for scanning large quantities of slidesĪfter using various scanners over the last 20 years (including professional Agfa scanners of the first series), I am amazed at how easily and efficiently one can scan large quantities of slides in a usable time and quality with the Epson V850. And will simply turn their backs on consumers with their defective "expensive" product. And it crystal clear prefers to leave the consumer the repair options.

And that here at Digitec, with such extremely expensive professional high-end equipment, is NOT behind the products they sell.

at auction: Be aware that the oversight scans are still sharp at a maximum of only 1200ppi. My ADVICE to anyone who wants to buy this v850 Pro for almost 1000 FR. Something that is absolutely common), would not be "worthwhile" for Digitec. When escalating this matter with Digitec's GL, I was sent back a nasty verbal slap in the face by the DIGITEC Public Relations office: That there were no other EPSON repair places, and that a sending in to EPSON Europe, (which I even had to suggest here myself!) would be a good idea. When the question was first raised whether my v850 Pro bought at Digitec was defective, the ESAG (official Epson Switzerland office, a 3rd company service office that also represents other brands) only suggested an exchange of the internal scanner part as a solution, for 550 Euros. Even with sharpening there is nothing more to do. And that everything above that : 2400ppi/3400ppi/6800ppi/9600 ppi, so between 1200ppi to 9600ppi options, become so blurry that they are completely unusable. Additionally, the V800 has USB 2.0 connectivity.Warranty service absoult terrible - Digitec turns a deaf earĪfter everything went smoothly with the Negi and slide scanning, a horrendous debacle was discovered with the oversight scan: The highly advertised and loudly proclaimed oversight scan resolution of 4800 to even 9600pi (with Epsonscan software V2, and Silverfast) are faked numbers! All tests with all Scan Softwares, like Epson Scan V2, Silverfast, Vuescan and even MAC own Scanmodule, resulted in co-operation with EPSON USA, and with the SIlverfast internal Tech support, and a Lithoanstalt, which all also the v850 pro possess, that only a 1200ppi Aufsichtsscan still acceptable Aufsichtsscan supplies. Included with the scanner are a set of four film holders - including a 35mm film holder, 35mm mounted slide holder, medium format holder, and a 4 x 5" film holder - and SilverFast SE 8 software. Digital ICE technologies further benefits scanning by automatically removing dust, hair, scratches, and fingerprints from film and prints.

The V800 features a reflective scan area of 8.5 x 11.7" as well as an 8 x 10" built-in transparency unit for scanning film. Productivity sees a boost due to the ReadyScan LED light source which can warm up in less than 1 second to immediately start scanning.

Also, a rating of 4.0 Dmax allows users to capture a wide dynamic range. The high 6400 dpi optical resolution and 6400 x 9600 dpi scan resolution along with a 48-bit color depth ensure fine detail will be captured and colors will be accurately reproduced. Convert film, slides, prints, and other documents into high resolution digital images with the Perfection V800 Photo Scanner from Epson.
